【Sports Activity】: “Basketball Clinic” event was held successfully
Coinciding with the grand staging of the highly anticipated NBA China Games in Macao, the OSA seized the momentum of this basketball fever to specially organize the “Basketball Clinic” last week, bringing the authentic NBA training experience directly to campus.
The event was led by Natalia Andre, Director of NBA Asia Basketball Operations, who personally guided participants through a comprehensive professional NBA training program. She not only introduced a systematic curriculum but also shared international-level basketball concepts and practical techniques. The session was marked by an enthusiastic atmosphere, attracting nearly a hundred students and faculty members from UM and other higher education institutions. Under the instruction of the coaching team, participants engaged in various intensive drills—including offensive footwork, defensive strategies, and team coordination—experiencing firsthand the scientific training methods and competitive spirit of elite basketball.
This activity served not only as an opportunity for skill enhancement but also as a valuable platform for exchange, effectively igniting basketball enthusiasm among local universities and fostering the vibrant growth of campus sports culture.

CHAN KIN FONG
Year 1, FBA, MLC I am truly honored to have participated in the Basketball Clinic . As a member of the UM basketball team, we are deeply grateful for this opportunity. The camp atmosphere was dynamic, and the coaching team was highly professional. The session began with self-introductions, followed by engaging warm-up activities—a routine that we later applied before intercollegiate games to quickly get into rhythm. Among the drills, the “2-on-1 into 1-on-2” exercise left the deepest impression on me. It not only honed our coordination in advantage situations but also enhanced individual skills, effectively boosting our in-game performance. Although the training lasted only a short time, we gained valuable insight into NBA training philosophies and methods. Once again, we extend our sincere thanks to the UM and the NBA for this invaluable experience. |

WU CHENFAN
Year 1, FBA, SHEAC As a freshman player, I have benefited immensely from participating in this training. From the pre-training warm-ups to the final discussion and exchange session, I experienced a training approach that differed meaningfully from our regular routines. Not only did I learn technical details and game philosophies of professional players, but I also came to realize that focused intensity in every practice is the real key to winning games. Moreover, this training provided an excellent environment and opportunity for talented players from different universities across Macau to learn from one another. This experience has not only deepened my understanding of basketball but has also helped me define my future development goals more clearly. |

HUNG KA NOK
Year 1, FED, MLC This training session was my first time training with a foreign coach, making such an opportunity truly invaluable. During the session, the coach started with simple two-player mini-games and shooting drills as a warm-up, then emphasized the use of spacing and decision-making in offensive plays. The coach also pointed out that successful teams rely on mutual support and collaboration among teammates, which helped me learn how to communicate and cooperate more effectively. This experience allowed me to learn many new basketball concepts, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to participate as a member of the University of Macau basketball team. I believe NBA-style training is not just about physical conditioning—it elevates mental toughness and teamwork holistically! |
