The national debut of “The Lion Dance Drama” was held successfully on 23 Oct
Dear Colleagues and Students,
The national debut of “The Lion Dance Drama” organized by the Associação Desportiva “Ou Kong Si San Kit Yee Tong” de Artes Marciais Chinesas and co-organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), was held successfully on 23 October at N2 University Hall. Besides over 400 participants at University Hall, the performance was live broadcasted on the social media platforms of Facebook and WeChat Mini Program. Due to the overwhelming of event registration and capacity limitation of N2 University Hall, OSA particularly arranged 200 students to watch the live broadcast together at E4 Mr & Mrs Lau Chor Tak Lecture Theatre. The event attracted over 600 online and offline participants in total.

The debut was kicked off with the Eye Dotting Ceremony by officiating guests; which is usually held before a new lion’s first dance. The purpose of the ritual is to empower the lion to fulfill its duty of bringing about protection, good luck, health, and prosperity to those present. In Chinese culture, the eyes reflect the spirit and thus, the last step before the lion comes alive is for its eyes to be dotted. The Lion Dance Drama consists of six short chapters, participants all had an enjoyable afternoon. Special thanks to the organizer for such a wonderful performance!
